QuillsEdge Press was co-founded by Jane Seitel and Elliott batTzedek, who met while both were being mentored by Alicia Ostriker. Although they came from quite different worlds, and wrote quite different poetry, the two women quickly found that they shared a vision of what poetry ought to feel like, and a background in feminist and social change work. Plus appreciation for puns, especially bi-lingual Yiddish puns. QuillsEdge Press grew out of their love for great poetry and their life experiences as women over 50.
Jane remains with the Press, serving as President of the Board of Directors. In early 2016, the Board recruited Ann Davenport to serve as Executive Editor. With the support of our incredible volunteers and community, the Press continues to thrive, publishing the indispensable poetry of women over the age of 50.
